If I played Stick I would run with 6/4, where if I played against someone like my self or weaker I would split. If I played Stick I would be more hesitant to hitting than usual and would choose easier and shorter paths.

Just think of the implications of errors: "They create opportunities to the opponent". I believe that those opportunities are more easy to identify and play correct, than regular play.

In addition playing against a weaker player means that you will have, more often than usual, the lead (not in terms of MWC but in terms of game equity) of the game which is easier to play (I think?) than being the one who has to turn the game around. It also means that the weaker player will possibly fail to make your life difficult in those games (e.g. a holding game where you are leading by 15 pips and your opponent breaks contact, of chooses a position with less contact than optimal).

Of course there is the other side.... that you said: Weaker opponents often create unusual positions.

Once again it is a matter of the likelihood of all those eventualities to occur...
