I thought the same thing. To be fair, Stick in his most recent post says that he finds this fact "a bit surprising."

I don't have any hard information about my own error rates against humans versus bots. The two kinds of opponents certainly present different challenges, but I can easily imagine feeling that it's "harder" to play against one type of opponent, only to find later that my error rates are lower against the allegedly "harder" opponent.
