It is difficult to imagine that a promise not to go pro could be enforceable. The law will not force them to stay in school, and I am confident The Ohio State University will not be suing any of its former players for damages.

If your boss makes you promise to stay through the end of January in exchange for getting a Christmas bonus, that's probably an enforceable contract in the sense that you might have to repay the money if you break your promise. But these kids aren't getting any consideration for the promise except the right to play in the national championship game. That's not something that can be undone after the fact.
