Oops, I miswrote (I went back to bed and I'm awake now.)

The hitting letters (H, K and X) operate a bit differently: the highest point decides. 52S-54 played 13/9 8/3* is H because the 3pt is higher than the 1pt. The reason for this is that hitting on the higher point is almost always better, and we want the capital letter to be better than the lower-case letter the lion's share of the time.

(The H/h identification I listed in my previous post is still correct, because it works out the same in the home quadrant. That is, because 8/3* and 6/1* occur in the inner board, highest point is also closer to the 6pt.)

Consider 62S-64. H = 24/14*, and h = 13/7* 13/9. The 14pt is higher than the 7pt.
