USBGF Standards of Ethical Practice debate

Carter: What are the thoughts of this forum? Is this leading towards the view that the USBGF is a union and will dictate policy? I am a member of the USBGF, and wish everyone to weigh in.
Carter raises a very good question. I too and I am sure everyone else involved with the USBGF would love to hear what people think on this question and in general regarding this policy. What do people in general think the USBGF should be? What do members of other national federations think that those federations are?
First of all, I encourage everyone to read the entire Standards of Ethical Practice document before expressing an opinion based on a single statement taken out of context.
Also, note the following statement:
Members of the USBGF and tournaments, clubs, playing sites, and all events which are sanctioned or supported by the USBGF are expected to adhere to these Standards.
What this is intended to say is that the USBGF jurisdiction extends only to its own members and to groups, events, etc. that agree to accept support or sanctioning from the USBGF. It is still to be defined what "sanctioned" actually constitutes - but the word "sanctioned" here most definitely refers to the dictionary definition of "conveying official status" (not something the UN might impose on some country that doesn't cooperate). As, the ideals of good sportsmanship and fair play are generic, everyone is encouraged to follow these standards regardless of any relationship with the USBGF.
