The USBGF works for everybody involved with backgammon

I would caution that I don't see the USBGF as a "players" association but rather an association for people engaged in the game of backgammon. The USBGF is just as much there and for people engaged in backgammon in the role of "tournament director" or "club director" as it is for people engaged in the role of "player". This is not an us vs. them situation. That is why 3 of 9 board members, 1 of 2 advisors to the board of directors, and 2 members of the Board of Governors are current or former tournament directors. We are all on the same team working toward the same goal.
