This is going to be a difficult bear-in and bear-off no matter how this is played.

On the surface, it seems like two down from the mid gains the most when it succeeds, and perhaps it does. But is it worth 4 extra immediate shots? Hitting on the 2 point has two less obvious things going for it. Firstly, there's the huge upside the 25% of the time a dance occurs. Secondly, the bear-off (if we can get there) will be far easier if that hit blot reenters on the 4 or 5 point. Those 4 extra immediate shots do not seem worth it. Gammons aside, I think the hit just wins more.
