Ed O'Laughlin--New Interview--Don't miss it

I only immediately recall three events that I think would merit being taken to the USBGF rules and ethics committee. ...
The other two were decisions by directors that I thought were handled wrongly. In each of those two instances I think the directors learned from their mistakes (have admitted their errors) and have taken corrective measures to preclude their future occurrence.
It sounds like only one case worthy of reporting. Directors can make mistakes. They are human. If they own up to them and take corrective measures, there's no need for anyone else to mediate the situation.
And personally, I agree that ethical standards are not intended to take personality and emotions out of the game. Just don't make any rants too disruptive or too personal. Don't throw more than one object at an unpopulated area of the room.
I remember many of the old backgammon books would have a little section on etiquette. It was helpful for people learning the game to also learn how to act and what was expected of them. Having an ethical standards guide serves a similar purpose. These days, lots of players play online and have very little exposure to live play. It may all seem obvious to veterans, but it helps people new to it all know what is expected of them when interacting live with other people. And it gives people a bit of backing to point out to a deviating individual that their actions are not considered acceptable in our community.
