It is also easy to see some concrete variations where stripping the mid hurts - hit, return hit from midpoint, return-return on the remaining midpoint blot. But I think the main problem of 13/10 13/9 is the immediate shots and tactical variations where blots are picked up later.

As an aside, stripping the midpoint and then losing the midpoint is not so bad in prime vs prime games, because you want these checkers to work towards prime building in any case.
