I agree that any of those adjustments by itself disturbs some other feature of the position. However, did you try them anyway? What happened? Can you explain the result? If you think that moving checker X has an effect because of such-and-such, then look at the bot's equity estimates to estimate the size of that effect. Then you can try to compensate for that effect by subtracting off that amount from other related variants.

Nack has illustrated how you can do this kind of thing with opening positions. But there's no reason the technique can't be applied to other positions too.
