Apart from the non-commitment, as for the tactics what about my earlier suggestion that the difference may lie in XG's rolls that fail to make the 5-point, i.e. fives and twos ?

- Fives attack on the ace-point, after which it is clearly better to have one less blot in the outfield.

- Twos split to the 22 (I think), after which there are more POH numbers with 8/5 (maybe the difference in gammons won is here).

When XG makes the five and we don't escape the back checker, then it becomes more like a priming game, and 13/10 13/9 is better. But it happens less often.
