Excelling at Chess

In Response To: non-backgammon backgammon books (Chuck Bower)

And while we are at it: another one of my favorites is Excelling at Chess by JACOB AAGAARD.

http://www.amazon.com/Excelling-at-Chess-Everyman/dp/1857442733/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1294438941&sr=1-1

He has a very entertaining and talkative style of writing, and this book is very different from the other, usual chess books.

He talks a lot about HOW to train your brain, and what attitude you need to excell. He also points out (like MCG in an gammonvillage article, if memory serves me right) that you need an absolutely strong will and dedication to win if you want to improve and become one of the very best.

If you are not a chessplayer, you won't like this book. It is about chess, and you can not read /like / understand / finish this book if you are just not a chessplayer.
