In Response To: non-backgammon backgammon books (Klaus Evers)

If you don't know anything about Go, you probably shouldn't buy the book. It would be worth skimming the sections where the author discusses why the fundamentals are so important if someone handed you a copy. Unfortunately, I can't help with that since I religiously respect copyright laws.

I'm not sure how to respond to the other comment. The average club player is a god at Chess or Backgammon - as soon as he or she leaves the club. However, the average player's mastery of the fundamentals is far below the players at the top of the ladder. And, this is the primary reason for the difference in their strength. That's what my Go book tells me. The difference isn't the fancy stuff, it is the fundamentals. To improve, the average player must improve his or her understanding of the fundamentals.
