It may be worthwhile comparing –2–p (needs 2, needs 1 post-Crawford) with d (dmp).
Opening 32
–2–p [S U2 D6 Z10 T10] <31
...... d[S D6 Z8 $15 U17 T28] <31**15*5
...... d[S D4 Z6] /20Opening 41
–2–p [S U5 T10 $25] <31**15
...... d[$ S3 U26] <31*5
...... d[$ S2 U18] /69*31Key: S = Split, Z = reverse split, U = Up, D = Down, T = sTack/Tower, $ = Slot. Margins are in thousandths.
David did all four XG 3-ply rollouts, and he contributed to the GnuBG data (displayed on the third line of each rollout set).
The difference between –2–p and dmp is that at the former score the opening player (trailer) is trying to minimize volatility on the very next roll. At –2–p, leaving blots on the near side of the board (especially in the home quadrant) should be avoided.
