Rich: why do you say that the upper bound must be 225, rather than the 240 enumerated by Ian (30 + 15*14) ?
I got it differently: (15*15 + 15 - 15) I decided that it was 15*15 since with the intervening blots there were 15 ways to play the 2 and then 15 ways to play the 1. Add 15 because if it is the same checker moving both dice order matters. Then subtract 15 because after a non-hitting move with the first checker, it will be on the same point as another checker, thus creating two duplicate plays for the second half of the roll.
