Chiva faces a classic economic problem of supply and demand.

His fees, rakes, schedule, etc. apparently generate the necessary revenue yet discourage attendance.

Reducing the fees, rakes, schedule, etc. would likely encourage attendance and perhaps generate the necessary revenue.

What is the proper balance? Only Chiva, as the director, can determine that.

Yet, with a gaudy name, Florida winter location, and backgammon cruise piggyback he gets only 54 players. NYC Metro last weekend in wintry Newark, New Jersey drew 120. Santa Fe in two weekends will draw 85+ (?) to a beautiful resort that is a bit more difficult to access and subject to winter weather at its altitude.

I wish Chiva the best and appreciate his efforts; however, in my opinion, he needs to re-think his tournament model.
