Why use Nactation?

I'd say that the main reason for you to learn some nactation is to enable you to read more easily the posts that some of the opening experts here write.
If you are keen on becoming an opening fanatic yourself, then having a succinct notation helps you organize large amounts of data more efficiently. But the real benefit of this efficiency is not likely to kick in unless you become an opening fanatic.
The full-blown nactation system is complex and not all the rules have been published yet, so I wouldn't recommend trying to learn it all. Start with the basic symbols R, D, P, S, Z, $. Then learn more symbols (U, V, H, X, B, E, A, etc.) as they come up and if you feel so inclined.
