I wish Chiva the best and appreciate his efforts; however, in my opinion, he needs to re-think his tournament model.

The attendance may have something to do with the tournament model but it may have as much or more to do with the fact that this event was sandwiched in between two other reasonably successful events. 3 ABT events scheduled over a 4 week space is going to reduce attendance somewhere. The 2010 US Open in San Francisco pulled in 82 players and was 2 weeks apart from any other event, and neither of those two events on either side pulled close to as many players in the prior year as either the NY or NM events did last year.

Chiva has to do what he has to do in terms of costs and days to make his event viable for him. Having some more people attend and losing money on the operation is a non-starter. Better scheduling is one possible way to get the best of both worlds.
