I would refrain from hitting in this position, and play either 8/7 or 7/6 for the ace. The way I think is this: If you hit, you have 5 blots laying around, many hitting rolls for white and the perfect set-up for losing gammon. Sure you're happy the 25% he fans, but otherwise you are in deep trouble. Would you like it if white doubles from the bar? If you don't hit, does white have a double? It looks like an easy take for me.
