I take exception to your contention that it 'eliminates' the possibility of cheating. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I'm most of the way with Bill on this one. I have graaaave concerns about people jostling the tube as the dice settle on the bottom. Brett Meyer says that done properly, this won't happen. When do you find backgammon players doing procedural things properly? Next to never. I had a guy in the NY tournament who wouldn't/couldn't shake his die on the opening roll. I called him on it four times.
