Doubles on last day and flying home

I see now that the time-stamps on this BBS are in UTC, not my local time.
Chiva's post was actually at 5:37PM eastern time and he said the Doubles Final was still not over. That's still not good. If the doubles is to be played all on the last day, which I actually support, there MUST be no Doubles entries from players still alive in ANY other event, side-events included. The other semi-final had a gap of something like 2 hours waiting for one team to do other things after the quarters were done.
A three round tournament of 8 teams with 7-point matches should not take 5.5 or 6 hours. (The first two quarterfinals started at 12:30PM.) If he had attracted 16 teams, people flying back that night shouldn't have even bothered to enter.
If Sybil Sha and I would have won our semi-final match, I would have been at high-risk of missing the Final or paying a $150 change fee to stay an extra day. My flight out was 7:40PM, which should be more than adequate to handle play in any Final without fear of missing a plane.
I'm making this post not to criticize Chiva but to highlight the issue for other directors that use this all-on-the-last-day schedule for Doubles.
