55 seems like such a good roll, and probably is, but it is surprisingly awkward to play. After first considering what must be the best play after jumping with 0,1,2 or 3 checkers, IMO:

0: 15/5 13/8(2) 1: 21/1 2: 21/16(2) 15/5 3: 21/16(3) 6/1

I decided that conceding the entire outfield (0) was too costly, that leaving a single blot in whites board (2) was far too dangerous, and at last, that jumping out with all (3) was too committal, being behind in the race, and furthermore offered less chance of covering the blot on 1, having at first no spares with which to cover it.

Thus by elimination: 21/1
