MCG spent over a year in Chicago telling everyone that when it comes to bearing off, when in doubt, just take checkers off and you can't be wrong by too much.

I think this is one of those cases. Over the board I really wouldn't be sure about this play, but I would take MCG's advice because

a) he is usually right (except when it comes to women);

b) he is also right that when it's close, if you peel, even if you are wrong you aren't wrong by much;

c) if it turns out to be wrong, at least I can blame it on MCG.

In this particular situation, I will peel because I am more likely to leave a 3 shot than a 1 shot that way, and now that I am no longer a Virgo I am sure that works better.
