The two-hand rule

The rule was established for a reason -- because it is easy to confuse (purposely or otherwise) and it is also easier to manipulate/con/scam etc. when using both hands in something like a three-card monte. Typically I would have no problem w/ the vast majority of my opponents moving as you have described. There are a few I wouldn't trust as far as I can spit. Unfortunately, if the rule is not enforced for all, it is harder to enforce for one.

Certainly, we've all discussed the inevitable confusion of opponents moving checkers to look at play options and then not returning to the original position before changing to yet another position. This is further exacerbated when someone is using two hands to do so. It only enables the devious and experienced practicioners of less than fair sportsmanship.

I think it should be written into the rules of the game that one cannot go from one potential play position to another potential play position w/o first returning to the original position. Also, in looking at potential plays, the checkers should be offset to denote transient positions. If checkers are moved to permanent, indistinguishable positions the turn should be declared over.
