If your point is that when I sign up for an event that is not full yet and pay my entry fee, then I should be assured that I get to play in that event, then I kinda see your point.
But if you're saying that there should never be events restricted to top players, then I don't agree. Why not?
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that. The Chicago tournament is having a Giants Invitational, that is a spectacular thing for backgammon.
I'm thinking of they typical masters jackpot at ABT events. I think if I've got the money and enter early enough, I should be allowed in.
JLee: Imagine a situation where a super-rich person wanted to enter a championship tournament, but they were so lousy that they had no chance at all to win a match against anybody. Is it "fair" that somebody is going to get a bye?
Tom Keith: I don't understand. The point of restricting the Super JP to 32 players is to avoid having byes.
Wealthy horrible player is a de facto bye.
