I don't think a tempo hit makes sense here. Delaying White by half a roll will gain a lot if we escape, but otherwise if White traps us behind a prime anyway, slowing White down may actually give White a timing advantage. Not to mention that our checker on the 1pt is a liability—we don't really want it to get hit so it may suck another checker away from our prime.

Hitting might make some sense as an attacking move (as opposed to a tempo play) but again our checkers are poorly positioned for an attack.
