The Little Rules Matter

"Could you please not touch the checkers when it's my turn?"
I've said this DOZENS of times and I repeat it every time my opponent insists on doing all those 'polite' things (like lifting their own blot) that they learned in the chouette. *I* move the checkers (both colors) on *MY* turn.
And I could go on for pages about the person we had to play in doubles in Ft. Lauderdale, but I won't, one run-on-sentence will do. This goof dropped at least 100 F-bombs during the match as I was playing with my female doubles partner who is in the 9th grade (I asked him twice to desist, he never did), picked up the dice 30 times to end his turn (clocked match), in one game he started setting up the checkers for the next game before actually getting off the gammon (even though the number rolled did not leave 44 as a next-turn miss; this was not instantly obvious), and then had the gall to try to lecture me about sportsmanship. (BTW, he was the 'Pro' of the 'Pro-Am'.)
But I never expect this kind of misbehavior and basically count on my opponents know what the heck to do and actually doing it. *I* screwed up by failing to call the director after F-bomb number two. (I was too busy trying to win the damn thing.)
I as SO eager to get to Santa Fe; it's going to be awesome! I expect super competition from the best players and a wonderful venue.
