One division only?

In 2006, the Norwegian championship, that normally has two divisions, was played with only one division and a multi-sidebet system for entry fees. You could choose to pay 100, 200, 400, 800 or 1600. If someone paying a low entry, say 200, cashed, (s)he would only be paid as if everybody had paid 200 in entry, except for those that only put up 100. The remaining portions of higher entries were distributed among those who reached further, etc. A bit tricky with the prize distribution, but it allowed the deep-pockets and the not-so-deep-pockets to compete together in one big tournament. Some liked it and some didn't.
