In Response To: One division only? (Chiva Tafazzoli)

Frank Frigo suggested the following: One field, call it an Open event, playing relatively short matches with low entry fees. Also a Masters event with normal entry fees. All those in the Master event are compelled to compete in the Open event. By including several side pools with varying dollar values, the players that want to jack it up can.

The USBGF Tournament in June is going to run a variation of the FF suggetion. An open event with shorter matches, along with a Doubles event that includes Giants and Legends of Backgammon. Those losing in the early rounds of the Doubles event will play in the open event. The open event will be no entree fees to Premium/Youth members, with low entry fees for those wishing to re-enter, and several side pool levels. We anticate it will be possible for many to re-enter the open event several times. More details on our site soon.
