Wow, "768 new messages since your last visit" just one week ago. Thirty-seven in this thread.

Who should NOT be allowed to play in a "Limited Jackpot" event? Several ideas were put forward:

(A) Anyone playing in the Championship flight

(B) Anyone in the top half of the Championship flight

(C) Anyone who has ever cashed in a Championship or Masters event (at a comparable tournament)

(D) Anyone with PR < 5.0

(E) Anyone who the TD would not allow to play in the Intermediate flight

But there did not seem to be a consensus.

Seems to me that a "limited" jackpot is not usually intended to be for intermediate players only, so I think I'd go with "B" for most but not all tournaments, depending on the event -- size and strength and entry fees, etc. But if a TD thinks (A) or (E) is more appropriate for a particular event, that's fine, too. If the limitation is defined in the brochure (and I think it usually isn't), perhaps the TD should nevertheless have a firm idea beforehand of what the limitation is, in order to deal fairly and consistently with latecomers and pond jumpers.
