Promoting backgammon - Grass Roots

I have no problem with federations, tournament groups and the like. I believe that fundamentally that many of the old timers and/or competitive players can no longer see the forest through the trees and they are too focused on competitive Backgammon. Where I differ is that we need to be promoting Backgammon at the social level, and probably far more aggressively.

One shouldn't assume that every social player is a potential Competitive player. That choice is up to the individual. But the more social players that exist the more likely that over time (maybe many years) they might develop an interest in the Competitive side.
