Funny you say this. First thing that popped in my mind that promoting this rule would finally bury Snowie for doing an Analysis, or if you are considering developing a new Backgammon site (where this feature would be available) it would take away from FIBS if they can't support it because of unavailability of source code.

My opinion is that there is a cost all the way around with little gain for Backgammon except headaches.

I can see more political reasons for doing this than for tangible value to the game itself.
