In either my new variant (above, left) or in Leobueno's original position (above, right), I would cover the 9pt, as I stated earlier. In that same post, I also stated that I somewhat prefer anchoring (Bar/21 23/21) when it leaves only a single-shot (instead of a double-shot) on the 9pt, and Chuck's variant (below, left) is a fitting example.

Yet another variant (probably less interesting than Chuck's in that is less tempting to hit) occurs when we slide the opponent's trailing checker back one more pip (below, right). Again, I would make the advanced anchor, and I expect it to win by a much larger margin than in the lower left, because in addition to its other virtues it duplicates 4s.
