Suppose you have your back checkers split on 24 and 23 point and have a one to play. I thought I had figured out when to anchor up and when to split further to 22 point but apparently not.

As I'm sure you've figured out from your studies, this decision can be based on many factors such as the race, how many men your opponent has in the zone, how the ace plays on the other part of the board, how many inner board points your opponent already has made, etc... I take them on a case by case basis and feel I have a good grip on when to anchor and when to resplit.

From the two positions you posted I'm not positive what you learned. They are both dmp like scores so in the first one you hit him off the front of the prime and in the second you just pick up the blot?
