Wacky backgammon board

Is backgammon specifically illegal in China, or are all games that contain dice or cards illegal?

What about a game that involves randomly drawing a "hand" like Scrabble?

Backgammon is a game I used to enjoy playing against myself when I had nothing better to do. Are there any other strategy games where playing both sides is realistic and enjoyable? I wonder if solitaire backgammon would be illegal in China.
