underlining

I had thought my apostrophe solution that works for separating @ from an e-mail indicator, also works for solving David's underline problem, but after rereading David's request and retesting, I see that it does not.
I have Excel 7 and tried following your directions, Ian, but got stuck on #4. After clicking on the upside-down horseshoe (denoting Symbol), I find only one drop-down menu (for font) and none such as you describe.
Also, after "0331 E," "0332 E," and each of the letters in your "Thanks to..." sentence in your post, there is a square (as I view the output). Is that what you intended? Similarly, in your post here, I see Ḇ E̱ A̱ C̱ O̱ Ṉ (only the B and N underlined and the other four letters with a square after them), and when I first saw it, I thought that you were joking (were you?) when you said, "Nice tip, Timothy," so I didn't bother to read his post, lol.
