Teaching young dogs new nactation tricks

Just to clarify: I'm not at all suggesting that newcomers should only learn nactation and never study traditional notation!
I'm just saying that contrary to the well-worn (yet empirically unverified) belief that nactation is somehow damaging for newcomers, I actually think that a rank beginner would gain more initially from a guided tour through early nactation symbols (with illustrations of the benefits of each action principle) than a lecture on traditional notation.
The reason for this is that traditional notation is merely descriptive of moves. On its own, it doesn't encapsulate or illustrate backgammon principles as nactation does.
