The Backgammon Club of the Future--the first thing we need is more clubs

The first thing the backgammon world needs is more backgammon clubs. Someone in every community needs to step forward and start a club. Initially you'll be lucky to get one or two people to attend on a regular basis. But if the leader is persistent ... creates a web site, advertises, etc. ... you can reach a point where you can entertain the possibility of considering some of Phil's ideas. If your local club has grown to the size where you can consider Phil's ideas, congratulate the director of that club.
Three years ago I founded the Durham/Chapel Hill Backgammon Club in North Carolina. BGonliners can study what I've done at http://home.roadrunner.com/~kenlarsen/backgammonclub.htm
My advice for starting a club can be found at http://home.roadrunner.com/~kenlarsen/bgclubstart.htm
Note: This doesn't mean that I agree with all of Phil's ideas ... but I applaud him for generating new ideas. The best way to get good ideas is to first generate lots of ideas ... then later discard the bad ones. That's called "Ready, fire, aim." Too often people condemn ideas when they're first voiced ... leaving nothing at the end.
