I agree with the idea of being friendly to newcomers, that is obvious. If there is a culture in the club that experts will give free advice, than Phil's suggestion would not be necessary (his suggestion could, however, create such a culture). And I probably would tweak the idea a bit, not making it a condition for the payment of the prize money, but, say, make it a tradition that the winner is invited to give a half hour lecture next week.

My point was mainly trying to look at what are good ideas, or what ideas could be modified into something that is or could be good. I found Phil's post too long and too full of ideas to warrant a complete rejection as Leonardo did.
