If the position were not from a match, I'm thinking "money session, Jacoby" or some such could be where "MET: Rockwell-Kazaross" is in this display.

Why not just put it where "trails 0-1 to 2, Crawford." is in your example? If it's money play that's dead space anyway. The advantage is that you're always looking in the same place for the match status instead of having to look for it at the bottom of the page.

if the play were a cube decision, would we need to indicate whose decision it was? I think not, because there's another clue to that: the numbering of the points are always from the perspective of the player on roll -- if you note which point is labeled "1", you know which player is on roll.

I think that's too subtle. I guess I could get used to it, but there seems to be screen real estate to say "on roll" so why not use it?
