The Michael Depreli Bot Comparisons

Excellent article, Tom, and I'm always impressed by your graphics.
I may not be interpreting the strength vs speed table properly. So far, I'm assuming that the axes are independent (though I understand the relationship is important). If so, on speed, Snowie 3-ply seems to be plotted at 62, Gnu 2-ply at 2.7 and XG 3-ply at 1.9+. Does that mean that Gnu 2-ply is reported as 23 times faster than Snowie and only 1.4 times as slow as XG (3-ply)? That isn't remotely close to the rough estimates I've heard of Gnu/Snowie = 2.5 and XG/Gnu = 3.5. What am I misunderstanding?
Also, offhand it seems to me that the bot chosen to do the arbitrating rollouts has an "unfair" advantage (Snowie in 2005, but more importantly GnuBG in 2010). I daren't venture a guess whether the effect is trivial or significant. (Perhaps the only fair way to do the study is to roll out all positions with all bots, though it would be highly impractical.)
