Kolkata auctions?

I think it is mainly an issue where there used to be a colonial name (or spelling) that is changed, and I personally belief such changes make sense, also depending on this history. Also some changes in the former USSR.
I guess it is first a government to government thing, say India announces and then other governments follow is their official correspondence, and then the others will catch on quite quickly. Sometimes it does not catch on (Krung Tep anyone?), but that is then mostly where history was nice and dandy. On the other hand, I have seen quite irritated reactions in China when Beijing was rendered as Peking, with actually is not a different name but a different transcription that should be pronounced the same, yet was deemed the colonial spelling (funnily enough, I think Beijing Daxue itself uses as English name Peking University, and Tsinghua University is also old spelling).
