Moving the back checkers as a diversionary tactic here is a must. Whether splitting is better than running is another question but the six must be played from the back. You currently have the stronger board, the race lead, and are more suited to a hitting exchange than a prime v. prime game which is what your opponent will start to build if you don't act now. He will build another strong point in his prime while your back checkers sit and die on the 24pt.
