Keene, the idea here is not to close out one checker, but to close out two checkers.

Your six-prime must go, if needed for a hit on the ace, no matter if you hit a 2nd checker or not, in the first roll.

My point (and I think what confuses Stick about your posts) is that only one roll (55) will put your checker down from the bar giving you the option of hitting or not in the 2nd roll.

All other rolls should hit either a 2nd checker, or the one on the ace (or both).

So, really the scenario for "hitting with a 3" is almost non-existent.

My quote was just, that if you write the stuff about 4s and 2s hitting, you must have thought about other numbers NOT hitting (such as 65), thus you'd probably make errors in this position.

In addition, I think some players would not be willing to sacrifice their 6-prime early enough to turn into a blitz to close out 2 checkers. They'd probably "play it safe" leaving a little more probability for the opponent to anchor up on the ace.
