Gammon Go Play

Very nice problem! I'm not at all sure about this decision but I'll give it a shot.
9/4 8/7, making the six-prime, is the first play I'd consider. It's a six-prime, after all. The trouble is that Black has a prime of his own and his timing isn't too bad compared to ours. After this play, I think we have the upper hand but not by a huge amount.
There are two double-hitting plays, 23/18*/17* and 23/18* 13/12*. I'm not sure which of these I prefer. 23/18*/17* is more aggressive and gives us the best chance to pick up all three outfield blots, but leaves us a little more vulnerable if we get hit back. I guess I'd choose 23/18*/17* over 23/18* 13/12*.
There are two single-hitting plays worth considering: 13/12* 9/4 and 23/18* 8/7. (I don't think 23/18* 4/3 can be right.) I think we'd rather cover the 4pt than the 7pt but on the other hand we'd rather hop a checker out than risk getting stuck. Not sure but I think I prefer 13/12* 9/4 because making the four-point board is a good long-term insurance against things going wrong and it also can't hurt as far as winning gammons goes. In any case, 13/12* 9/4 looks better to me than 9/4 8/7 so I can eliminate 9/4 8/7 from further consideration.
After all that I'm still not sure but I think I'd play 13/12* 9/4. I won't be shocked if one of the double-hitting plays turns out to be better though.
