I'd say that using BGONLINE.ORG option when posting to BGO is the best, since it doesn't rely on the images being on another server.

I've made this argument before. If Stick gets hit by a bus and doesn't maintain this site, it doesn't matter where the images link to. If the XG site goes bye bye, all of the archives will have useless board diagrams.

It's not a case of putting all your eggs in one basket. It's a case of not having to rely on two things working.
