1. if i've set up a position to analyze and i want to change things,(move a checker up or back or change an open point) is there a way to edit the position so i dont have to go back and re-setup the whole thing?
First, let me suggest as I always do to RTFM (you can google that). Once having read the FAQ even once everything is so much easier and the program itself is that much more useful.
Anyway, to your first question, if I'm understanding correctly, you have a position set up and you want to make minor alterations or variants. This is easily done. All you have to do is click where you want to take checkers from. For example, if for some reason in the position below you wanted to move one of the checkers off of White's 6 point and slot his 5 point you don't need to redo the entire position. All you need to do is click the 4th checker up on the 6 point and the checker will be removed. Then you can place it on the 5 point. You remove any checker from the board by clicking underneath it, add it back to the board by clicking the point you want it on.

2. when analyzing a match i've already played (usually an online match) and i have made a bonehead play because i've mis clicked the mouse, how do i have that move not count against me?

XGID=--B---------------------a-:1:1:1:00:0:0:3:0:10 on roll, cube action?
Analyzed in 3 ply Player Winning Chances: 72.22% (G: 0.00% B: 0.00%) Opponent Winning Chances: 27.78% (G: 0.00% B: 0.00%) Cubeless Equities No Redouble: +0.444 Redouble: +0.889 Cubeful Equities No Redouble: +0.444 (-0.444) Redouble/Take: +0.889 Redouble/Drop: +1.000 (+0.111) Best Cube action: Redouble / Take
In the position above let's say I was playing online and had the auto roll on so I accidentally didn't cube something that I'd cube every day of the week in live play. To eliminate the error from my performance rating all you need to do is hover your mouse in the lower left hand corner where the play/decision is analyzed and right click. When you right click a menu will appear and you should select Remove analyze. The same holds true for checker plays, you run your mouse over the checker plays, right click, remove analyze.
