So instead of the legal play that would have left something like this position:

is Player 2

score: 2
pip: 118
11 point match
pip: 50
score: 6

is Player 1
XGID=-bGB-F------a--a--abbbbb--:2:1:-1:00:6:2:0:11:10
on roll, cube action?

The illegal and impossible play was condoned and something along the lines of the position below was accepted? The upper diagram is probably closer to the actual position than the lower, but in either case, the point is made.
