Rule 4.8

I think no one should blame Ray for his choice to let the play stand, on that part I agree fully like so many others. One of the things I liked about Bill Calton's post was that he was so clear about this.
Personally, I have my opponent correct illegal plays whether or not they are in my advantage. I want to win through better play, luck, or both; I don't want to win because of some mechanical mistakes by my opponent against their intent (like Bill's) or through a misreading of the dice. So if one wants to play an opening 53 13/8 13/10, I am happy; if the same 53 is played 13/9 13/10 they will get a chance to play legally. But that is just the way I want to play, how I derive the most pleasure from the game.
I respect your position, it is completely within the rules and logically consistent. And you are right that it is the responsibility of your opponent to make sure he plays within the rules of the game.
