What you're doing by keeping the rules the way they are is punishing people like Bill Calton when he plays someone like Ray.

Just to be clear, Ray is a person of integrity. He simply prefers applying the rules as currently written and I see nothing wrong with that. If the rules were changed to Legal Moves, I have no doubt that Ray would have pointed out Bill's error and had him correct it.

And that is exactly Stick's point. The vast majority of people in this game are honest and want to follow the rules and we should not have rules that make the presumption of bad sportsmanship.

Everyone makes illegal plays from time to time and we don't think they are cheats (until it becomes clear that all their illegal plays are in their favor). Similarly, if someone fails to point out an illegal play from time to time we won't think they are poor sportsmen (until it becomes clear that all of their failures to notice illegal plays are to their advantage).
